Institute for Research in Social Science and Humanities is a recognised research centre located in the college under Kannur University. The IRISH is home for research scholars in History, Economics and Malayalam. The institute is organising, international, national and regional seminars and has published 26 books. These apart, it also maintains a state-of-the -art language lab and occasionally arranges short term courses in foreign languages like Portuguese and French. A regular study centre of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is functioning under the aegis of IRISH, where interested candidate can be enrolled for degree, post - graduate and certificate courses. IRISH has been designated as an examination centre and also counselling centre for the students registered under IGNOU. Following are the courses offered:

Nirmalagiri College has a heritage centre named “Keraleeyam”, an initiative of the Department of Malayalam. This functions as a centre for the preservation of several articles of antiquity, cultural significance and of monumental value, collected by the students from the surrounding areas of the institution.

The Department of History has prepared a Museum in 2015 as an academic extension activity. The museum is intended to be a centre for preservation, exhibition and educative demonstration of historically significant articles which are either collected by the students or donated by the Alumni and moulded as models for the purpose of historical reconstruction of the past.

Getting into the Civil services has always been a challenge and an invitation. The Civil Service Academy functioning in the Nirmalagiri College campus is a rich tribute to Mar Sebastian Valloppilly, the founder patron, whose visionary leadership has laid foundations to a number of educational institutions in the Malabar region. The centre provides timely guidance and motivation to those who pursue this dream with facilities such as reference library consisting of books and periodicals suitable for clearing these exams and timely guidance. Various trees and shrubs are identified, named and labelled. Flowering and shady trees and plants have been planted in the campus, wearing a lush green look around the year.

The College has 10 multi and single station domesticated gym equipment with 200 kg weight lifting free weight. Gym will be open from 7 am to 8.30 am in the morning and 3.45 to 6.30 pm in the evening.

MIS incorporates computer aided learning management system which enable to access all data of stakeholders at a single click, developed by alumnus and former faculty of the college and managed by Physics Department. It comprises their personal, socioeconomic, and academic profiles and academic activities. Faculty permit the students to track their academic progress. It offers access to study materials including videos, audios and documents. MIS inevitably generates student ID card from their data. All faculty members can upload educational sites and their research activities which are perceptible to all.
Departments can upload their activities, student retention ratio, teacher -students ratio, result analysis, and grade distribution. NGC MIS is the unique platform to permit all documentation. On further upgradation, it integrates the attendance system as well.

A botanical and medicinal plant garden is being nurtured with about 125 medicinal plants. The project serves a very purposive role in educating the students and teachers on the agro-herbal diversities, our nation is endowed with.

So as to propagate and educate the society on water resource preservation and management, the college has launched two rain water harvesting projects that is expected to harness much of the runoff water during the monsoon period and make worthwhile use of the same during the lean months. The water so collected is effectively utilized in maintaining the greenery of the campus.
