The department of history was started functioning in the Nirmalagiri College in 1964, the year of the beginning of the Institution. From the beginning world history was offered as a paper for Pre-Degree Course. The department continued to function as a part of the Department of Economics till 1998 when history main BA Degree Course started in the College .At present the department is a full fledged one with a prestigious academic record. The very first batch (1998-2001) secured a 100% pass with 3 first classes and 15 second classes. The second batch(1999 - 2002) was with a 100% results bringing 5 First classes and 11 second classes along with the First and Third University Ranks of the Year. The Department of history heraldes its vision-“Making history while teaching and learning history” The department offers BA. Degree Course (History Main 88 Students) and Subsidiary papers for B.A. (Economics main and English main 230 students)
