Department of History

The department of history started functioning in 1964, the year of the beginning of the institution. From the beginning history was offered as a paper for Pre-Degree Course. The department continued to function as a part of the Department of Economics till 1998 when history main BA Degree Course started in the College. The Department of history with its motto “Learn History to Make history” is inspiring and enriching its students with academic pursuit and research aptitude. The department offers B.A. Degree Course in History and Complementary Elective Course for B.A. Economics and B.A. English programme.

The department has a very prestigious academic record. The very first batch (1998-2001) secured 100% pass with three first classes and fifteen second classes. The second batch (1999 – 2002) also secured 100% pass with five first classes and eleven second classes along with the First and Third University Ranks with numerous ranks in the following years.
