- This department started functioning in 1964 with Pre-degree Biology batch
- Degree Course started in 1967
- We offer B.Sc Zoology main with chemistry and Botany subsidiaries
- Maximum intake of students per year is 32
- qualified faculty, library with more than 1200 books, a beautiful and highly informative Zoological meseum, spacious laboratories etc are our highlights
- Since the inspection of Kannur University our students are in the focus by securing ranks in the final year examination
- The department has conducted career oriented programmes sponsored by U.G.C. in the following streams
1 . Watershed Management. (Co ordinator- Smt. Sali George)
2 . Organic Farming. (Co ordinator- Dr.Joselet Mathew)
- The department has conducted talks and interactive sessions by Dr.Thimmayya (Director, Natura Agro Technologies Ltd., New Delhi) and Ms. Karly Ann Burch (Research Scholar in Sustainable Development from University of California).
- Dr.Joselet Mathew of our department has presented a paper on “Human cloning, it’s bioethical and theological perspectives” in the International Seminar organized by the Centre for Science and Religion, Metanexus Institute, University of Pennsylvania, USA.
